Learning during Problem Solving
Much of what people learn during problem solving comes down to two things: which problem-solving strategies to use and when to use them. Our research on learning during problem solving examines how people learn to choose the right strategy for the right problem and how people generate good strategies in the first place.

Learning in the Classroom
Theoretical models of how people learn during problem solving can be applied to maximize students' learning in the classroom. These applications can then, in turn, inform and improve the theory. Our research on learning in the classroom investigates how students learn introductory statistics and how that learning can be improved.

Individual Differences
There are many differences in how people approach solving problems, even when it's the same problem. Our research on individual differences focuses on how different people handle complex problems that require a great deal of information be kept in mind during problem solving.
