Breakfast or “break the fast”
Did you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?  A well balanced breakfast provides the nutrients that children need to start their day off right. Breakfast improves energy, brain function, and diet. Studies show that children who eat a good breakfast do better in school than children who do not.

The American Dietetic Association suggests the following quick and easy breakfasts:
     •        ready-to-eat cereal with fruit and milk
     •        toasted bagel with cheese
     •        fruit-filled breakfast bar and yogurt
     •        toasted waffle topped with fruit and yogurt
     •        fruit smoothie (fruit and milk whirled in a blender)

  • peanut butter on whole-wheat toast
