School Features to Consider
1. Is it located where you would like to teach?
2. Does it offer the degree or certificate program you need? Some institutions focus on one field of education (such as early childhood or secondary education). Some offer only parts of a field (secondary biology but not secondary chemistry) Also, find out if the program easily allows for dual certification (e.g. Secondary Physics and Chemistry)? 3. Does it provide a variety of teacher education experiences?
4. What is the school's reputation? There are many on-line and in-print reports (such as U.S. News & World Report) that rank graduate schools of education by a variety of qualities. Also check with graduates, current students, and school administrators to get an idea of the school's quality. 5. Is the school accredited?
6. Will the school help you find a teaching position?
