Violet McGillen earned her B.S. in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Millersville University of PA. Previously, she taught kindergarten, first grade, and was an assistant teacher in a special education classroom in public school systems. During her first six years at the Children's School, Violet worked as an assistant teacher with the extended afternoon program and a teacher in the four's and kindergarten classrooms. Now in her seventh year at the Children's School, Violet will be working as a floater, substituting in any classroom as needed and working on various whole school projects. Violet is married to Don and has two daughters, Jessica and Stephanie. Jessica is a Ph.D. student at Oxford University, England, and Stephanie graduated with her Master's in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Violet enjoys traveling, exercising, reading, going to the orchestra and theater, and shopping with her daughters. She is an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
