PROFILE — Ran Liu
Graduate Student

Psychology Office: 455E Baker Hall
Psychology Phone: 412-268-8112
Email: ranliu@andrew.cmu.edu
Advisor: Lori Holt

Research Interests:

I'm interested in the mechanisms supporting learning of high-level perceptual and spoken language representations. In my graduate work, I use a videogame-based training paradigm to investigate higher-order auditory category learning, second-language speech category learning, and second-language word learning. I am particularly interested in how different features of the learning environment (e.g. implicit/explicit task structure, feedback style, and stimulus variability) impacts the nature of the learned representations that result.
