The following competitions are listed by location and their upcoming deadlines: *_Domestic Opportunities_* *SMART *– Students are offered full tuition, related fees and living expenses for undergraduate work in exchange for service. New graduates are place in civilian labs associated with the Department of Defense. DEADLINE: _December 15^th , 2009._ *Department of Homeland Security Undergraduate Scholarship* – Undergraduate scholarships are for sophomores majoring in the physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, life sciences, social sciences, psychology, or engineering with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.30 or higher. Must be a U.S. citizen. Winners receive $1,000/month for 9 months during the academic year and $5,000 for the 10-week summer internship, for the duration of two years. Students apply directly to the foundation, there is no campus representative. DEADLINE: _January 6, 2010._ _ _ *NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program *– Undergraduates are offered two years of support in the form of $15,000 awarded for each school year, to be used for educational related expenses, and a $10,000 Summer internship at a NASA Research Center DEADLINE: _January 11, 2010._ _ _ *_Opportunities Abroad_* _ _ *NSEP Boren *– Undergraduates who are U.S. citizens and are interested in study abroad in areas other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Winners receive a maximum of $20,000/academic year. Special summer programs available for students in the sciences, mathematics and engineering. **DEADLINE: _January 19, 2010._**** * * *DAAD Rise *– Students in the sciences, mathematics or engineering can apply to spend six to twelve weeks in Germany to gain intern and/or research experience.
