*RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION*.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Suicide Prevention In Primary Care

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is looking for a full time Research Assistant to work on a community based suicide
prevention project focused on screening and referrals for adolescents presenting with suicidal thoughts in primary care. The
grant aims to train primary care providers (PCPs) in suicide risk assessment, set up a web-based screening tool in PCP
offices, and assist in linking PCPs and local mental health services. The project is based at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia,
but the clinical sites are in three counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The duties of this position are varied. The RA will help
monitor and develop the screening tool website, assist in recruiting and training new PCP office staff to use the screening tool,
perform clinical assessment and tracking (over the phone) of patients that endorse suicide risk, work with local coordinators and
suicide prevention task forces to promote local activities, and work with leadership from the Department of Welfare, state medical
associations, insurance companies and other stakeholders who assist in guiding the grant. In addition, this person will be
responsible for related activities (data management, patient tracking, state and local surveys, IRB, and communicating with the
funding sources). Travel to the performance sites is required, but having your own car is not. This position is well-suited for someone
who likes a range of professional activities, works independently, and has good social skills, as well as excellent writing skills.
Minimum requirement is a BA in psychology or related field and work experience in a research setting. The position begins this
summer.
