  • This research considers an alternative approach to the traditional mind/brain problem by situating consciousness within a framework of living processes. The proposed theory relates to several current scientific and philosophical approaches -- embodiment, dynamic systems theory, ecological perception, autopoiesis, and phenomenology.
  • An informal description of the proposal, by Christopher Davia, is available at: (http://www.psy.cmu.edu/~davia/mbc).
  • A more formal paper (under submission), relating the proposal to issues in cognitive science and cognitive neuroscience, is available from Davia (davia@andrew.cmu.edu).
