The Children's School is proud to be celebrating 40 years of learning. We are inviting all previous students, staff and researchers to join us in this special occasion by registering for events throughout this school year.

All of these are frequent questions when people hear that we're celebrating our 40th Anniversary. Please help us provide answers by telling us your Then and Now story and adding two photos - one for then and one for now. Templates are provided below, but feel free to be creative. Alumni Days
- On November 11th, 2008 we invited alumni to visit the Children's School at 8am - 9:30am, 11am - 12:30pm or 2pm - 3:30pm. Alumni can tour the school, observe classroom activities and share memories of preschool and kindergarten. Below are a couple of the alumni that spent time in the Kindergarten classroom.

- We have another alumni visit day coming up on January 19, 2009. The times available are 8:30am-9:30am and 2pm to 3pm. To take advantage of the alumni visit day please call Mrs. Simpson at 412-268-2198. Space is limited so please register early!
**Note: Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Anniversary Party
- We will also commemorate this year with a Children's School Gala on December 18, 2008. The gala will include music by "The Boilermaker Jazz Band",www.boilermakerjazzband.com, led by Paul Consentino, whose children attended the Children's School. The gala will be from 5-8pm in Rangos Hall at Carnegie Mellon's Univeristy Center. We will have hors d'ouevres to munch on while you view pictures from past years, do some favorite Children's School activities (e.g., playdough, legos, etc.), and sing some of the old songs. Past and current staff will be looking forward to seeing alumni and their families. Look for invitations in your mailbox in mid-November.
- Although the staff at the Children's School has many memories to share, we invite anyone who has pictures or fun Children's School stories, to please send or email them to us so we can put them out at our 40th Anniversary Gala. Please email Annie Smith at smithal@andrew.cmu.edu with any pictures or stories.

40 Ways of Giving
- As an ongoing project, we are also finding 40 ways to give this year. We are putting together School Kits for students in Malawi with the help of Ten Thousand Villages. Dr. Carver and the teaching staff have worked with other schools on the best way to approach NAEYC accreditation. We are training student researchers and a student teacher. We are beautifying our corner of the campus with new gardens. We are always looking for more ways to give so if you have any ideas or information, please feel free to email Annie Smith at smithal@andrew.cmu.edu.
40 days of School
- Students in our 4's and Kindergarten will be celebrating their 40th day of school together with many activities in each of the classrooms related to the number 40 (e.g., building with 40 cups, making snack with 4 sets of 10 food items, making a design with 40 stickers, etc.).
We are looking forward to all these festivities and hope that you will be able to join in the fun!
