What's Your Earliest Memory?

In this casual memory exercise, you are asked to try to recall your earliest experience. Please take a moment, sit in a comfortable chair, and put yourself back into your childhood, i.e., think about your early childhood (Establishing a context, even of other memories can help recall.) Then try to recall your earliest memory. Write a brief description of that memory and then an estimate of your age at the time of the event and memory.

Questions: Finally, think about that person (you at that age) and that memory, and ask yourself the question, "Is it me" -- that is are you "continuous" with that person? If not, how far back can you go and still feel like you?

Turn in:

  • Your earliest memory
  • Your approximate age at your earliest memory.
  • Were there extraordinary circumstances which make it particularly memorable?
  • Is your personality or identity the same now as it was then?
  • Any other particularly interesting information
