Implicit Association
Test
Select and do an Implicit Association Test
- Go to the IAT webpage
- Under "Demonstrations" you click through to
the demo page. . . note the
disclaimer!
- There you will find a list of tests to
choose from; you will pick and
carry
out one of the tests.
- Select one test to perform and follow the
instructions on the screen.
Your
browser must support Java applets for this to work.
Please answer these questions and turn in:
- Which test did you take? What was that test
measuring? What variables
did
the experiment vary and what variables might the experiment be
measuring?
- Are the results surprising to you in any
way? Do you agree with the
assessment
given by this experiment? Why or why not?
- How do you think performance (response time
and errors) in the
experiment
might dictate the degree of preference presented at the end of the
experiment?
- Quickly describe a set of results that
might result in a different
preference.
Why would that data indicate a different preference?
Social Behavior Lab -
Part Two
Prisoner's Dilemma
Become a player in the Prisoner's
Dilemma
The prisoner's dilemma is
explained on this
website . Visit this website
and play several games of the prisoner's dilemma. Try switching your strategy and record your score and
the other
player's
score after 10 rounds of play. Play at
least three 10 round games and record the end score for both
players.
Questions:
- What strategy did you develop?
- Do you think this is the best strategy?
If not, what do you think might
result in a better score given that you
can not control the behavior of the other player?
Assignment:
1. Turn in your answers to the above questions.
2. Devise your own prisoner's or common's
dilemma. This dilemma
should
not be one that you found on a webpage or in your book. Be creative!
Think about situations where people are competing for
resources or a shared outcome.
