The discussion today focuses on the distribution of psychological disorders and
an overview of different approaches
to treatment of those disorders. Slides for today's lecture are
here Please note that they substitute for and elaborate
the slides from the last class following the "DSM IV" slide.
We will first discuss broad sources of disorders and then discuss:
- Broad classes of treatment and how they map onto various classes
of
disorders
- How treatment has changed over time and with what effect
- Outcome studies of treatments (how effective they are)
- A brief take home message on what to do in the case of trouble
We will then turn to some summary statements about the course and the
final
exam.
