Research Interest I wish to develop a more complete understanding of the neural basis of subsequent memory effects using behavioral, ERP and fMRI methods.
Education
Carnegie Mellon University; Pittsburgh, PA 2006-Present I am working toward a PhD in Psychology. GPA: (3.95/4.0)
Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition; Pittsburgh, PA 2006-Present I am working toward a certificate in Cognitive Neuroscience
Stony Brook University; Stony Brook, NY 2002-2006 I earned a B.S. Degree in both Biochemistry and Psychology from The Honors College. Phi Beta Kappa Suma cum Laude; GPA: (3.97/4.0); Dean’s List all four years
Research Experience
Graduate Student working with Dr. Lynne Reder 2006-Present Carnegie Mellon University; Pittsburgh, PA In my current research, I am investigating the underlying mechanisms of subsequent memory effects using behavioral, ERP and fMRI methods. I am also working on a study looking at the role of perceptual information in the formation of false memories. Other projects were an ERP project involving problem solving with Dr. Kenneth Kotovsky, and an ERP project to find ERP correlates of initial feeling-of-knowing.
Undergraduate Research with Dr. Nancy Squires, 2004-2006 Stony Brook University; Stony Brook, NY I assisted Allen Azizian, a post doctorial fellow, on an ERP study of responses to pictures and words. I also worked on dual-code theory, the topic of my senior thesis.
Summer Research with Dr. Cliff Kentros Summer 2005 University of Oregon; Eugene, OR The focus of the Kentros’ lab was the functioning of place cells in the hippocampus which we studied using single-unit recordings from transgenic mice.
Summer Research with Dr. Robert Levin Summers 2001-2002 Albany College of Pharmacy; Albany, NY We conducted biochemical analysis of rat bladder tissue as part of a larger project to determine the impact of temporary ischemia (deprivation of oxygen and glucose) on the level of cellular functioning in these tissues
Teaching Experience Teaching Assistant: Research Methods in Cognitive Psychology Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 Carnegie Mellon University Department of Psychology with Dr. Erin Ingvalson and Dr. Lori Holt
Teaching Assistant: Social Psychology Spring 2008 Carnegie Mellon University Department of Psychology with Dr. Chante Cox Boyd
