I thought the PLB had been publishing the important intellectual contributions of the department? (Many of which because of their cutting edge nature would be rejected by the more standard conservative journals). Moreover, I expect that you are proposing rejecting further research with Pittsburgh squirrels. This itself has been a unique and important contribution of the PLB. If department members want to disseminate their work to the readers of the internet, let them set up their own blogs. We have more important business here.

I believe that Lori's Latin on 'habemus caput' is correct; when department heads stepped down in the Holy Roman Empire, the official proclamation was "Caput kaputt."

There's a 23% chance that 58% of the 84% of the department who read this article won't understand 48% of what it's about. But then again, I'm probably in the minority (which % that is).

Well, they both have that weird british accent-- it's so hard to tell them apart. Some say it's aural chocolate, I say otherwise

I was shopping online for some new squirrel sized lederhosen for my dad's birthday present (he loves new wardrobes to dress up his little friends) when I came across this article. I suppose next time I won't use the search terms 'Just Squirrels'. Anyway, in my dad's defense, he doesn't always think about squirrels. Growing up we certainly enjoyed our squirrel-themed bedrooms and our footy-pajamas with attached tails but not all of our time was strictly squirrel related. We spent a great deal of time doing other things like metal working, knitting and watching movies.

When I visit home, I always enjoy seeing the welding craftsmanship we put into the squirrel breeding cages in the basement. Many of the cages still have their original knitted squirrel-sized welcome mats. Additionally, his grandchildren are now enjoying many of the films I grew up with including Rat Race:

Just seeing that clip brings back many memories of childhood I've squirreled away.

A misplaced comment from Brian:
<br>
"Actually, the proper translation of the Fulani phrase should not be “dire circumstances” but “sexual enhancement”. Of course I understand the interest in enlarging the departmental budget, but in view of the fact that we also recently won a major settlement for the copyright infringement of the Just-Mitchell patent on the human brain, I am not sure that we will be able to process both of these cash streams. Perhaps we could divert the Nigerian monies to the funding of the new CMU Summer Palace of Mindful Cognition Research in Beijing.

That's such a hot market right now. We could get a patent for the psychological processes behind patent trolling and then sue the patent trolls for trolling! Pretty sure that'd be an endless cycle of cash.
