NOTE: This syllabus was last updated on 11-10-11 when the date and time of the final was added. Please note that the final will be held on Monday, Dec 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in the computer cluster, Baker Hall 332P. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS DATE & TIME!

Below is the Fall, 2011, syllabus for 85-423/723, Cognitive Development. The readings (but not the chapters from the textbook, except for Chapter 1, Children's Thinking, Fourth Edition) can be dowloaded by clicking on the appropriate link for each reading. You will need Adobe Acrobat to download and read these files. (To download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat, click here.) For some of the readings (Adolph & Berger, 2006, National Mathematics Advisory Panel, 2008, Kagan, 2008), the entire chapter or article is included in the pdf, but you only need to read the pages indicated below, not the entire chapter/article (unless, of course, you want to). Please note that Children's Thinking is abbreviated CT.

For your convenience, a copy of the discussion questions for Children's Thinking will be handed out in the first class. You can also download them by clicking on the link below under "Readings" for 8-30-11. When it is your turn to lead the discussion, you will be responsible for posting your discussion questions to the google document that will be shared by the class. In order to obtain access to our shared google document (SGD), you will need to send your email address to my research coordinator, Theresa Treasure, at tt2p@andrew.cmu.edu, and she will add you to the access group. You will receive an email notification when you have been added. Discussion questions for each class should be posted on our SGD at least 5 days before the relevant class. If you have any difficulties with the SGD, let Theresa know as soon as possible.

If you have any problems downloading the readings or accessing the Forum, please let Dr. Siegler's research coordinator, Theresa Treasure, know as soon as possible by sending her an email at tt2p@andrew.cmu.edu.
